Los Angeles native, born to emigrant parents from Guatemala. Spent my early childhood there, in the rural Pacific Coast where I was first came across coffee in the form of a red fruit, while playing at a neighbor's backyard. There I also witnessed the exploitation of campesinos by multinational corporations who export sugar, coconuts and bananas.
I was first introduced to coffee roasting by my neighbor Chris in Compton. I was intrigued by how different variables influence cup results. This new found passion became a small venture when I decided to leave my job to be with my newly born son.
I now find myself in pursuit of coffee roasting mastery; mindful of the farmers who make coffee possible. On the back end being environmentally conscious along with being active with neighborhood rebuilding initiatives in Compton.
